The flush gable roof (yingshan ding) is a traditional Chinese architectural form featuring double-sloped roofs. With one horizontal ridge and four sloping ridges, this type of roof has a simple and plain design, and is considered a lower-ranking roof style. According to regulations in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), for officials below the sixth rank and folk residences, only overhanging gable roofs (xuanshan ding) or flush gable roofs were permitted for the main halls. Within Prince Kung's Palace, flush gable roofs are used in the Jiale Hall, Duofu Belvedere, and Baoguang Hall.
