Prince Kung’s Palace Museum unveiled an array of new exhibitions and events on Dec 14, 2023, marking the commencement of its grand celebration for the 40th anniversary of its founding.
With a reflection on the past and a vision for the future, these events and activities have been curated under the succinct and inviting slogan “Let’s go to Prince Kung’s Palace Museum” – a phrase crafted by the museum for the year-long celebration of its 40th anniversary in 2023.
As articulated by Feng Nai’en, director of Prince Kung’s Palace Museum, over the past 40 years, the museum has undergone significant transformation. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of its staff, the museum is now open in full after the clearance of irrelevant organizations and its comprehensive architectural restoration. It has evolved from a major historical and cultural site, a national top-level tourist attraction to attaining the status of a national first-class museum.
Embracing development and innovation while remaining firmly grounded in its identity as a community museum, the museum prioritizes “the museum’s security and collections' safety, the building-up of academic strength, the application of digital technologies, and public education services”. Through this strategic focus, the museum integrates development initiatives with the preservation of cultural heritage. As it stands at this new juncture, it is committed to advancing cultural prosperity in modern China.
