The integrated circuit (IC) industrial base, or "Oriental IC Port," is located in the Lin-gang Special Area, a new section of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

It was established on Oct 27 and has already attracted over 40 of China's top IC enterprises and more than 150 billion yuan ($22.4 billion) in investment. The enterprises are mainly involved in chip and equipment manufacturing, materials, and chip design.

According to a development plan released by the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, the "Oriental IC Port" is expected to have an industrial scale of 100 billion yuan by 2025.
