Life is expected to be much safer and more secure for residents of the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone – located in East China's Shanghai city – when more than 4,000 cameras covering the area are connected to its new digital management platform by the end of June, local media reported.

Based on internet, artificial intelligence and 5G technologies – and guided by the digital development plan of the special area – Lin-gang launched a future community smart security and protection project recently.

According to officials, the project will play an active role in routine public security and novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control.

Besides connecting to the cameras, the project also includes building 885 visual perception terminals.

"The locations of the terminals are carefully decided, to make sure that every corner of the area can be filmed," one of the project managers explained.

More and more cutting-edge technologies have been popularized in Lin-gang in recent years, to optimize convenient services and improve the living environment for its resident and similar projects are to follow, according to officials.
