The Thai Hom Mali Rice Week event opened in Kunming on March 1 and will run till the 10th. Organized by the Consulate-General of Thailand in Kunming, the event has 11 Thai restaurants from Kunming and Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture preparing authentic Thai cuisine.
The event will also offer special promotions, free tastings of Thai rice, and other discounts. Thai rice is renowned worldwide, especially Thai Hom Mali rice, which has unique qualities. In 2023, China imported a total of $298.37 million worth of rice from Thailand, totaling 461,672 tons. As the living standards of Chinese consumers continue to improve, many are choosing to eat high-quality Thai rice, which can be easily purchased in major supermarkets and websites.
