On the first day of the New Year's Day holiday, Yunnan railways experienced a peak in passenger traffic, with 367,000 passengers, a 169.1 percent increase from the same period last year. Tourism passenger flow has become a new growth point for the railway.
Since the opening of the Lijiang-Shangrila Railway on Nov 26, it has attracted a large number of tourists to Shangri-La. The passenger traffic exceeded 10,000 on the first day of the New Year's Day holiday, more than double the initial opening of 3,000 people per day.
In response to the tourism boom and increased travel for visiting friends and relatives, China Railway Kunming Group adjusted the operation plan for Lijiang-Shangrila Railway passenger trains. The number of daily trains has been increased from 10 to 14, and four trains from Kunming to Shangri-la have been reconnected, resulting in a total passenger transport capacity of 18,900 seats, a 66.7 percent increase from the previous capacity of 13,500 seats.
During this year's New Year's Day holiday, the China-Laos Railway cross-border tours were popular among tourists. On the first day of the holiday, almost 600 Chinese and foreign tourists were inspected and released at the Mohan Railway Port. To enhance the travel experience for passengers, China Railway Kunming Group has optimized travel routes, promoted non-disturbance and barrier-free language services, provided free Wi-Fi, and established emergency assistance services at each station along the domestic section of the China-Laos Railway.
Regarding the operation and management of the Laos section, China Railway Kunming Group made accurate predictions in advance. They analyzed passengers' travel needs and increased capacity investment accordingly, creating an efficient and comfortable travel environment.
