As an ancient and rare species, the dawn redwood is a fast-growing, endangered plant hailed as the "living fossil." It is one of the nationally protected plants in China. It usually survives in wet lower slopes and rivers and stream valleys.
In winter, dawn redwood forests in various parts of Kunming enter their best viewing period. The dawn redwoods turn gradually red, with green, yellow, and red colors complementing each other and creating a spectacular scene under the sunlight.
Visitors can row boats and navigate through the water forest, feeling as if they've stepped into a fairy tale world, or strolling along the wetland trail, intimately connecting with nature.
