Kunming recently launched a three-year action plan to promote steady growth in consumption. It is projected that by the end of 2025, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods will reach 430 billion yuan ($60.24 billion), with an average annual growth of over 8 percent.
To reach the goal, six plans and 20 specific tasks will be undertaken.
To cultivate business market entities, Kunming will expand the scale of enterprises and develop local famous and high-quality brand enterprises.
To strengthen economic carriers, Kunming will develop center cities for consumption, improve commercial systems in counties, and promote the construction of living areas.
To improve the quality of consumption, Kunming will create distinctive business districts, support the business of new stores, and develop chain operations by speeding up the improvement of pedestrian streets and introducing domestic and international brands.
To stimulate the market, Kunming will spur the night-time economy, boost consumption in catering, exhibition, online consumption, and support cultural, business, tourism and sports consumption.
To safeguard people's livelihood guarantee, Kunming will promote the consumption of bulk commodities, and ensure the supply of daily necessities.
To create a sound consumption environment, Kunming will strengthen the protection of consumer rights and interests.
In addition, the action plan also proposes a series of safeguard measures to protect financial services, strengthening supervision and assessment, and vigorously promoting publicity and guidance.
