The magazine "China Customs" by the General Administration of Customs of China recently published a report on the foreign trade competitiveness of Chinese cities in 2022, revealing the list of the top 100 foreign trade cities in China. Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province, has been included in the list.
In 2022, the city's foreign trade imports and exports amounted to 199.74 billion yuan ($28.01 billion), marking a 16.4 percent year-on-year increase and constituting 59.76 percent of the province's total. Exports reached 94.64 billion yuan, up by 1.2 percent compared to the previous year, and imports surged to 105.1 billion yuan, indicating a remarkable year-on-year growth of 34.6 percent.
This year, Kunming has been conscientiously implementing policies and promoting the optimization of the city’s foreign trade structure and high-quality development.
At the same time, Kunming has made solid efforts in the pilot work on the innovative development of service trade. Kunming’s innovative practices for boosting trade and promoting China's financial services to South Asia and Southeast Asia were awarded as example cases for duplicating in other areas.
From January to October this year, Kunming's total import and export trade totaled 113.34 billion yuan, ranking 13th among the 27 provincial capitals in China. In the next step, Kunming will continue to promote the innovation of foreign trade systems, models and business, actively track and implement key projects, and promote cross-border e-commerce.
