The 2023 Kunming Plateau Half Marathon will kick off with 15,000 runners on Oct 22 in Kunming, Yunnan province.
Kunming welcomes the 10th Plateau Half Marathon this year, the participation having increased from 5,000 to 15,000 runners since the first race in 2012.
The event includes a half-marathon, a 10-kilometer happy run, and a 2-km family run.
Endowed with a mild climate, abundant natural resources and location advantages, Kunming is nicknamed as the City of Eternal Spring.
The entire race route will connect Kunming's urban landmarks and beautiful ecological environment. Participants will be jogging in lush greenery and scenic beauty throughout the course, allowing them to be in close proximity to nature in the city while experiencing Kunming's pleasant climate.
The design of the finishers’ medals has been launched. Emblems of Kunming such as Jinma Biji Memorial Archways, Yunnan Military Academy History Museum Lecture Hall, the Stone Forest, Dianchi Lake, camellias, and auspicious clouds are exquisitely integrated into the medals’ designs to extend the best wishes to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the marathon.
