Yunjian Sports, a leading sports enterprise in Yunnan province, have sponsored the sportswear of the Cambodian delegation at the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sept 23.
Since August, the Cambodian national team has trained at Haigeng and Chenggong training bases in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan, to brace for the ongoing Asian Games. The bases have offered all-around support in food and accommodation, medical rehabilitation and training.
Cambodian male 800-meter athlete Chun Bunthong said: "I am extremely grateful to China for providing us with excellent training, accommodation, and dining arrangements, as well as for giving me the opportunity to learn about China, its development, sports, and culture. I will do my utmost in the Hangzhou Asian Games."
At this year's Hangzhou Asian Games, the Cambodian delegation is equipped with two sets of national team uniforms, one long and one short, primarily featuring the colors of the Cambodian flag: blue, red, and white.
Pirun, head of the Cambodian training delegation in China, expressed that the new team uniforms are stylish, comfortable, and reflect the distinctive characteristics of Cambodia.
The year 2023 commemorates the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia, and is also designated as the Year of China-Cambodia Friendship.
Since 2016, Yunnan and Cambodia have been actively fostering sports exchanges and cooperation. In 2022, athletes from the Cambodian national team came to Yunnan to prepare for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, while the Yunnan Provincial Sports Bureau dispatched 7 coaches to Cambodia to provide training and guidance to the Cambodian team during the competition.
Through collaborative efforts, the Cambodian team achieved a historic breakthrough by winning 81 medals in the Games. This significant accomplishment has laid a strong foundation for future, deeper cooperation between the two nations in the field of sports.
