Haiyan ancient village in Kunming has reopened to tourists after undergoing road renovations.
Located on the eastern shore of Dianchi Lake, it is a traditional village that has preserved the distinctive architectural features of Yunnan homes and the cultural heritage of Dianchi Lake's fishing industry.
Throughout its history, Haiyan village benefited from the convenient waterways of Dianchi Lake and, at one point, became one of the busiest and most bustling docks along its shores. The houses in Haiyan have a quaint and rustic charm, preserving the architectural characteristics of Yunnan homes dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
