On August 10, the Kunming Vegetable Industry Alliance was established in Chenggong New Area, witnessed by representatives from various sectors of the Kunming vegetable industry chain.
The Kunming Vegetable Industry Alliance is a civil society organization (CSO) developed and co-operated by several Yunnan local agriculture enterprises.
Prepared based on the Kunming Vegetable Trading Center established in October 2022, the Kunming Vegetable Industry Alliance provides a standardized, modern, and platform-based vegetable production and distribution service system centered in Kunming.
“The Vegetable Industry Alliance is an important platform for resource integration and optimization, the improvement of the industry chain, and the promotion of industry development.” stated Zhou Pengxiang, vice general manager of Yunnan Yuntianhua Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd.
According to relevant statistics, in 2022, the vegetable acreage in Kunming reached 1.89 million acres, with a production of 4.13 million tons; the agricultural output value and agricultural product processing industry output value were 9.16 billion yuan($1.26 billion) and 10.91 billion yuan, respectively, and the comprehensive output value reached 31.17 billion yuan.
Since the launch of the Kunming Vegetable Trading Center last year, as of July this year, the total vegetable transactions amounted to approximately 590,000 tons, with a transaction value of 4.07 billion yuan.
Shen Shaohui, secretary of the Kunming Vegetable Industry Alliance, said that since the establishment of the alliance, it will aim to promote the transformation and upgrading of the vegetable industry in the Kunming region towards green, low-carbon, and sustainable development, and ensure food production safety.
