Kunming aims to build 100 parks of various kinds in 2023, striving to increase the city's number of recreation spaces to more than 1,000 by 2025.
The city will also work hard on some key projects such as the restoration of roads around lakes, and the ecological restoration of the plots around the Dianchi Lake Greenway. More efforts will be made to build historical and classic cultural tourism routes based on the city's well-known historical culture, garden environment, cultural relics and brands.
By the end of 2022, the city's landscaping bureau has established strategic cooperation with seven scientific research institutes and colleges, including the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in the hope of leading the high-quality development of the landscaping industry.
In 2023, Kunming will accelerate the selection and introduction of domesticated new and excellent garden plants and ornamental plants. Relying on the advantages of its own high-quality nursery stock base, the city will introduce high-quality low-maintenance landscape rose varieties.
The landscaping bureau and the meteorological bureau have jointly established an urban landscaping spectrum release system, regularly issuing weather forecasts and risk warnings related to urban landscaping, and giving suggestions about seedling transportation, flower maintenance and emergency protection.
