A border market in Mohan port city has been approved by the Yunnan provincial government, and is scheduled to come into operation by Nov 15. It is expected to substantially enhance border trade in Mohan and help resolve the peak pressure of the area.
The market marks the completion of the first key site since Kunming’s taking over of the land port. It has already expanded to twice its original size.
Relying on Mohan port, the market will apply a new data model, establish a comprehensive service platform for border trade, integrate trade information, logistics and capital flow, and deepen the development of online transactions and cross-border settlement in the market.
Mohan Port borders Boding Port in Nanta province, Laos. It is the largest highway port between China and Laos and is an important land passage between China and Southeast Asian countries.
Mohan Port has now established a designated supervision site for fruits, grain, chilled aquatic products, and plant seedlings, and is actively striving for a designated supervision port for Chinese medicinal materials. It is estimated that the import and export trade volume of Mohan this year will reach 5.5 million tons, with value topping 44 billion yuan($6.08 billion).
