Chinese Garden in Zurich, Switzerland, is a gift from its sister city Kunming, the capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
Since the two cities established sister-city ties in 1982, they have conducted in-depth exchanges and cooperation and made sound progress in city planning, public transport, tourism, cultural arts and the building of a low-carbon environment.
In 1993, Kunming built a traditional Chinese garden in Zurich as a symbol of their bilateral ties. Adjacent to Zurich Lake, the design of the garden is inspired by Cuihu Lake Park in Kunming, and it is the largest Chinese-style garden overseas.
It has become an ideal place for local people to visit, recharge, take a break and appreciate Chinese culture since it opened to the public in 1994.
