The Guandu district of Kunming is known for Yunnan Opera, one of numerous Chinese opera types. With a history of more than 200 years, the opera gradually developed in Yunnan from the late Ming dynasty onwards (1386-1644). It is popular throughout numerous counties in Yunnan.
