Railway workers from China Railway Kunming Group Co are busy inspecting along the China-Laos Railway in Yunnan province to ensure normal operation during the line's first flood season.
Two teams including 30 experienced workers simultaneously began their inspections in opposite directions from Pu'er. They are responsible for identifying potential problems in tunnels and on bridges, as well as lightning protection facilities and the power system.
Opening to traffic on Dec 3, the China-Laos Railway is the first overseas railway jointly constructed and operated by the two countries. It runs over 1,000 kilometers.
"All problems will be recorded and solutions will be implemented after careful overall inspection," said Yang Huan, one of the team leaders.
"Some high-tech help has been given, such as drones," Yang said. "The drones can easily reach areas where it's hard to go and get information we need, greatly helping us improve efficiency," he said.
After 22 days, the group completed the first inspection stage on Feb 24. All inspections will be finished by the end of March, the group said.
