Kunming held a livestreaming event in which expats were invited to take part in tea ceremonies, flower arrangements and incense making with masters from the Hongyi Academy during Lantern Festival.

Li Lejun, head of Hongyi Academy, said these cultural rituals reflect the aesthetics of ancient China, as well as awe and respect for nature. They can provide tranquil moments to escape from the mundane worries of day-to-day life.

Daniel Andrée, an American teacher, said, "I have been in Kunming for three years, and I thought I knew a lot about Chinese culture, but I did learn a lot through today's activity. The activity was an interesting experience.”

"This activity helped me learn about Chinese culture and made my heart very calm. The incense-making was the most interesting part to me. I think I will learn more about it in the future," said Selman, a British entrepreneur who has been in China for more than 10 years.
