Kunming held a video conference with Vientiane, Laos on Thursday, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations. Authorities of Kunming and Vientiane marked the anniversary and exchanged ideas.
Over the past decade, Kunming and Vientiane have conducted frequent people and cultural exchanges in deepening friendship.
The two sides have given full play to their respective advantages to develop cooperation in tourism, agriculture, economy and trade, and education. They have already worked hand in hand in poverty alleviation, improvement of people's livelihoods, and urban management.
Liu Hongjian, secretary of the CPC Kunming Municipal Committee, said that Kunming is ready to work with Vientiane to enhance friendly exchanges and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
PhD Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, member of politburo bureau and president of the Lao Front for National Construction, said this event will promote continuous and in-depth development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two cities and bring greater benefits to the people.
Kunming’s related institutions explained cooperative projects between the two cities, including Laos railway technical talent training, Kunming pilot procurement and trade, Laos youth employment and entrepreneurship incubator development and maternal and child health and medical exchanges.
The Vientiane Department of Health and Kunming Maternity and Child Health Hospital signed a memorandum of exchange and cooperation on maternal and child health and medicine.
