Kunming is opening the Baofeng Wetland, one of the showcase areas of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 15), to the public for free till Nov 7.
Located on the east bank of Dianchi Lake, the 1,633 mu wetland is dedicated to the protection of the biodiversity of the lake. It mainly focuses on building a plateau lake wetland ecosystem with an estimated 101 species of plants.

Fish fry have been bred and released into a habitat environment that has been improved with trees, stones and comprehensive water conditions.
The improvement of the wetlands is expected to draw more birds to rest and nest.
Farmlands have been improved ecologically to support more plants.
