Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, set up in 1951, began to enroll undergraduate students in 1981 and was named among the province’s key universities by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government in 1995.
It covers 86 hectares and has set up campuses in downtown Kunming and Majinpu, Chenggong county, Kunming. Currently the university has 1,799 staff members, with two being members of Yangtze River Scholar Program and 19 enjoying State Council special allowances.
There are 26,945 students on campus, with 24,511 of them undergraduates. The university has 61 undergraduate majors, with four listed as national distinctive majors and another five listed among provincial distinctive majors.
The university has carried out international cooperation projects with universities and institutions from more than 40 countries such as the United States, France and the United Kingdom.
