Seventeen universities in Jiangsu province were recently included in the provincial construction plan of high-level universities.

The construction plan was initiated in 2021 and each construction round will last for five years.

The selection was conducted among provincial universities with the right to grant doctorates, including universities with doctoral training programs for national special needs, of which the universities are divided into two groups.

One group includes universities that were selected for national "double-class" construction, as well as listed as key support for the construction of high-level universities in the province from 2017 to 2020.

Universities included in the group were Soochow University, Nanjing Tech University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing Forestry University, Jiangsu University, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Normal University, and Yangzhou University.

The other group contains provincial universities with high-level cultivation support, as well as subject advantages, industry characteristics, and service development.

Universities included in the group were Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Changzhou University, Nantong University, Xuzhou Medical University, Jiangsu Normal University, Nanjing University of Finance & Economics, and Nanjing University of the Arts.
