A Sudanese student with the Chinese name Su Meng has volunteered in COVID-19 prevention and control efforts in a community in the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.

His voluntary work in the Chunjiang community includes guiding the public to queue and register for nucleic acid tests as well as sterilizing the environment around the test site.

Su has been living in Yangzhou for five years. He is currently studying for a PhD at the Agricultural College of Yangzhou University.

"I like China and the city of Yangzhou very much. Yangzhou is a city of delicious food, famous for Yangzhou fried rice, Yangzhou steamed stuffed bun, and natural scenery," said Su.

"I am helping fight the epidemic with my Chinese friends. We share a common goal of defeating the epidemic and allowing our life and study to return to normal," Su added.

Su said he cherishes his job as a volunteer very much as it has made his overseas study experience more meaningful.
