Among the 25 newly approved national university science and technology parks, five were in Jiangsu province, according to the list recently released by the Ministry of Education.

The university science and technology parks of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Jiangsu Normal University, Yancheng Institute of Technology, Yangzhou University, as well as Jiangsu Ocean University were on the list.

The total number of national university science and technology parks in the province has reached 20, ranking first nationwide.

National university science and technology parks refer to important platforms, as well as sci-tech service institutes that rely on universities strengthening their scientific research. They combine universities' intellectual resources with markets' innovation resources to enhance the integration of innovation resources, the transformation of sci-tech achievements, the incubation of sci-tech entrepreneurship, as well as the cultivation of innovative talents.

National university science and technology parks also offer opportunities to graduates to start businesses.

Jiangsu is currently home to 36 university science and technology parks at or above the provincial level, incubating over 2,150 companies.
