Hasibul Hasan Shanto, a Bangladeshi student studying at Nantong College of Science And Technology, beamed when talking about his visit to a local e-commerce company on Dec 9.

The young man gained practical experiences at the company's various posts, such as product photography, live streaming, customer service, website design, marketing, and warehousing and logistics.

Shanto said the visit was mind-blowing and encouraging, especially in his change in role from an online shopper to a shop owner.

"I have tried online shopping in China before, but the experience was quite casual as I was only a customer," Shanto said.

"But when doing online businesses, my role has totally changed. For example, when I was taking charge of customer services, I had to get a thorough understanding of the products first and then promote them to my customers. I also had to keep a close eye on the monitor, so as not to miss any instant messages. Running an online shop is far more complicated than I had imagined."

Shanto is a student of e-commerce at Nantong College of Science And Technology. His interest was not only in China's ancient and splendid culture, but also in the country's fast-growing economy.

"Long before I went to college, I have read news about China's Singles' Day online shopping frenzy, which I thought was incredible at that time," Shanto said.

"I want to focus on cross-border e-commerce after graduation, and then I can bring the good products of China and Bangladesh to their peoples."

Shanto stood out from his school mates at a practical skills competition on e-commerce recently. He was hence given the opportunity to work as an intern at a local e-commerce company.

He gave a thumbs-up to China's internet economy and enjoyed mobile payment when going shopping at the supermarket, taking buses and metros, and visiting scenic spots.
