East China’s Jiangsu province will launch a public speaking tour on traditional Chinese culture in Mid-April.

Its launching ceremony got underway at the provincial capital of Nanjing on April 10.

As a nod to the central government’s unremitting efforts to promote traditional Chinese culture, the speaking tour is aimed at arousing interest among local residents, and especially among adolescent students, in delving more into the country’s traditional cultural treasures.

The speaking tour has gained the full support of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the provincial civilization office, the provincial women’s federation and the Public Reading Promotion Association.

It will span one year, over which it will stage some 100 events for students, teachers and parents from local kindergartens, primary and middle schools, universities and communities.

The tour will also invite a host of reputed speakers, such as academicians from renowned colleges like Nanjing University, Nankai University and Jiangnan University, as well as master teachers and principals from local primary and middle schools.

Various new media methods, such as WeChat, Weibo and live streaming, will also be used to increase the events’ interactivity and openness.

The Jiangsu Education Channel, an experienced provincial TV station, will play host to all these events.
