Xinghua city in East China's Jiangsu province is undergoing a remarkable transformation from traditional agricultural practices to a modern, large-scale industrial system, aiming to establish itself as a "health food capital".
This strategic shift is driven by Xinghua's clear strategic planning and unwavering commitment to expanding and strengthening its health food industry. The city focuses on attracting flagship and supporting projects while encouraging leading enterprises to explore high-value sectors like functional foods, significantly enhancing industrial capacity.
At the heart of this transformation is the Xinghua Economic Development Zone, which specializes in health food and compound seasonings. The zone is advancing the construction of a landmark core area for the health food industry, targeting a new industrial hub with 10 billion yuan ($1.42 billion) in output value and 500 million yuan in tax revenue.

In 2025, some major provincial-level projects have settled in the zone, driving industrial transformation and upgrading. Seizing the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, the zone has signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Thailand ASEAN Business Association, achieving multiple agreements in food industry development and cross-border market expansion.
To ensure sustainable development, Xinghua is integrating the industrial, innovation, capital, and talent chains, while enhancing complementary services. On Nov 26, the Haoxianglai leisure food industrial park project broke ground, set to develop a standardized, large-scale production system in two phases, fostering collaboration in raw material processing, packaging design, and cold chain logistics.
By establishing a professional logistics company, customs supervision points, and talent apartments, the zone is creating an efficient and comprehensive support system, laying a solid foundation for the city's burgeoning health food industry.
