A new generation whole grain probiotic fermentation soybean milk production plant, which is being established in the Xinghua Economic Development Zone – located in Xinghua city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is scheduled to start operating in late May.
Funded by Wuxi Hepu Light Industry Equipment Technology Co Ltd – based in Wuxi city, in Jiangsu – the project was incubated by the Xinghua (Wuxi) Offshore Innovation Center in Wuxi and was co-developed by the two cities.
According to Pei Manian, director of Xinghua bureau of science and technology, the whole soybean milk production facility is the first project incubated by the center, embodying its creative vision to bring technology, talent and enterprises back to the city.
The whole grain beverage market has developed rapidly in the last two years, which made Song Minggan – director of Wuxi Hepu Light Industry Equipment Technology Co Ltd – decide to enter the field.
Given its lack of product development experience, the company worked with the Xinghua (Wuxi) Offshore Innovation Center, which arranged for senior professors and offered related operations services for product development.
In March, the company directed funds to Xinghua to begin the construction of the project, which will be conducted in three phases involving a total investment of 100 million yuan ($13.83 million).
On completion, the project is expected to generate sales of 500 million yuan per year.
