Chen Fengjian, Party secretary of Xinghua city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – recently joined the Eighth Delegation of the Xinghua Municipal People's Congress to review the city's work report for last year.
The representatives of the eighth delegation came in on Jan 11 from the Xinghua Economic Development Zone, the Lincheng sub-district and the Duotian sub-district.
During the talks, representatives agreed that the government work report summarized the progress in a pragmatic and accurate manner – setting out precise and attainable goals and deployed specific tasks and measures.
Business representatives talked about the current situation and future prospects. The discussions focused on giving full play to the regulatory role of business entities – strengthening policy support, reducing corporate burdens, optimizing the business environment and accelerating the city's economic transformation and upgrading.
Chen said that over the past year, Xinghua's economic and social development had made steady progress and achieved great results.
This was due to the joint efforts of the entire community and could not be separated from the active contributions of entrepreneurs.
Chen added that the real economy, especially the manufacturing industry, was the foundation for high-quality development.
"The city will insist on focusing on its development of the real economy, continuously improving its service levels, optimizing the business environment, promoting its industrial transformation and encouraging enterprises to forge ahead and create new achievements in its high-quality development," the Party chief said.
Chen added that the municipal Party committee and government would continue to support the development of enterprises, while the Xinghua Economic Development Zone would seek to boost competition within Dainan town, in order to take the lead in the drive for the city to develop.
