The Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – is actively promoting the growth of its automotive industry.
The zone has attracted over 60 automotive manufacturers and auto parts producers to base themselves there, establishing the zone as a key area for the development of the city's new quality productive forces.
From January to September this year, the Taizhou Port EDZ posted output value of 19.16 billion yuan ($2.65 billion) in the automotive and auto parts sectors – with total production of 148,900 vehicles, representing a hefty year-on-year increase of 7.85 percent.
Great Wall Motor's Taizhou base, with a total investment of 8 billion yuan, began mass production in 2020. The complex has since drawn a cluster of core auto parts enterprises to the zone, covering segments such as interior and exterior trims, chassis, automotive batteries and power systems.

The Taizhou Port EDZ has also introduced a development plan for the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry. Centered on Great Wall Motor's Taizhou base, the plan aims to create a core manufacturing circle for NEVs within a 5-kilometer radius. What’s more, the zone is also implementing various measures to bolster the business environment.
Moving forwards, plans are for the zone to continue to attract enterprises along the automotive industry supply chain, with a focus on segments like hydrogen energy, humanoid robots and autonomous driving.
The goal is to attract hidden champion, "little giant", and unicorn enterprises – positioning it as a leading hub in the Yangtze River Delta's NEV industry development.
