Manufacturer Yima Automotive Parts (Jiangsu) Co Ltd – located in the Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has become the first company there to benefit from a new environmental approval reform pilot.
General Manager Yang Yuguo recently received environmental impact assessment or EIA approval for the company's new project in just one working day.
Yima, a key supplier of auto manufacturer Great Wall Motor Company Limited, is expanding its production due to rising demand.
The company plans to invest 51 million yuan ($7.19 million) in a new plant to make 150,000 exhaust systems annually. Quick EIA approval was crucial for starting construction on time.
Typically, the EIA process involves gathering extensive data, conducting detailed analyses and incurring significant costs, often taking several months to complete.
The new reform aims to simplify the process. It introduces a shared pre-evaluation report for six key industries, including pharmaceuticals and metal products.
The reform cuts preparation costs by about one-third and reduces the time needed to prepare the EIA report by one to two months. Approval times are now shortened from 30 working days to just one.
Yang Yuguo praised the reform for making the process simpler and more cost-effective, with government support helping to avoid delays and extra costs.
Looking ahead, the Taizhou Port EDZ plans to continue to roll out the EIA reform to improve project approvals efficiency and support the area's high-quality development.
