The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology in East China recently announced its 2024 list of provincial-level specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises, or SME industry clusters.
Taizhou city in Jiangsu province secured five out of the 40 spots listed, including the new energy vehicles transmission system components cluster in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, also known as Gaogang district.
The new energy vehicles cluster in Taizhou has experienced rapid growth, capitalizing on its greatlocation and supportive innovation policies. What's more, it has developed a robust industry supply chain centered around auto manufacturer Great Wall Motors' plant, with core component suppliers serving as key links.

The specialized and sophisticated SME industry clusters aim to bolster the core competitiveness of small businesses, stimulate local economies and improve supply chain resilience. They feature focused lead industries, distinctive competitive advantages, efficient collaboration networks and comprehensive local government services.
Looking ahead, Taizhou's Gaogang district plans to implement new development concepts – balancing enterprise cultivation with strengthening industry.
The overall goal is to enhance the cluster's specialization, characteristics and intensive development – ultimately boosting the core competitiveness of the new energy vehicles transmission system components industry.
