Every day at the Taizhou branch of Great Wall Motors – China's biggest SUV and pickup manufacturer – an array of robots silently assembles parts, while engineers brainstorm in conference rooms and vehicles undergo rigorous testing.
This modern production hub – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – has produced nearly 500,000 vehicles since its inception in 2020, achieving an 80 percent self-sufficiency rate in components.
Taizhou's rapid automotive industry growth is known by repute to have been powered by the local automobile industry alliance and its Party committee.
Established in 2022, the alliance – led by Great Wall Motors and supported by 16 local municipal departments and 35 business enterprises – focuses on premium-quality development through "Party building + industry supply chain" strategies.
The alliance Party committee fosters cooperation and innovation by organizing quarterly Alliance Day events and facilitating forums and entrepreneur gatherings. The collaborative environment is reported to have attracted significant investments to date, with 18 parts projects bringing in 12 billion yuan ($1.65 billion).

Talent development is widely regarded as being key – with initiatives to train 5,000 technicians and to address technical challenges resulting in over 100 new patents. The Committee also efficiently addresses industry needs, solving nearly 40 issues to date related to production, supply and regulatory approvals.
