Six companies from the Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – have been officially recognized as specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises, or SMEs in East China's Jiangsu Province for 2024.
The announcement was made by the Taizhou Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, marking a significant achievement for the businesses.
Specialized and sophisticated SMEs are said to be characterized by their focus on niche markets, strong innovation capabilities and mastery of key technologies.
These companies are also said to be leaders in their respective fields, contributing to high-quality outcomes and efficient operations.
Over the years, the Taizhou Port EDZ has prioritized supporting SMEs, implementing policies to promote their development and providing targeted services.
The zone's efforts are widely understood to have yielded positive results, with two companies designated as national-level "little giants" and 32 as provincial-level specialized and sophisticated enterprises.
Little giants are small enterprises that are still in the early stage of development and focus on the new generations of information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, biomedicines and other high-end fields.
Moving forwards, the zone is aiming to further support these enterprises, accelerate their digital transformation and enhance their competitiveness in the global market.
