Hordes of people streamed into shopping centers and scenic spots in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone – in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province – during the recent May Day break, having a ball and tapping into the rich festive vibes there.
Popular shopping center Mixc saw its revenue jump over 10 percent year-on-year and its total visitor flow hit about 70,000 people, with daily sales topping out at 8 million yuan ($1.11 million).
Also in the zone, the Rainbow shopping center reported that its visitor throughput for the period climbed 15 percent year-on-year during the holiday.
Meanwhile, in the wood-carving mansion scenic spot, a display of handicrafts – including wood carvings and palace lanterns – offers visitors a glimpse into the city's bygone era.

What's more, the Fengqi Lake scenic spot held its first lobster food festival on May 1-3, with over 4,000 kilograms of lobster sold in three days.
To top it off, the Taizhou Naval Ship Culture Park handled a record 40,000 or so visitors. Adding to all the fun, around 100 children from surrounding cities embarked on naval themed study tour in the park.
