The residents of Xuzhuang sub-district – located in the Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – came together on March 12 to commemorate the 46th Arbor Day.
Under the theme of "Planting Green, Embracing Spring", the sub-district – in collaboration with various local communities – organized a range of events aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility towards the environment and nurturing a love for nature among residents.

In Sanxing community, adult volunteers coached kids about the significance of Arbor Day, emphasizing the vital role trees play in purifying the air and enhancing the aesthetics of their surroundings.
The children were encouraged to develop their tree-care skills and deepen their understanding of conservation. Additionally, creative workshops featuring clay sculpting allowed the kids to express their imagination by crafting an array of flowers and trees.
Meanwhile, in Machang community, a tree adoption drive was launched, inviting residents to take ownership of selected trees within their neighborhood. Participants eagerly tended their adopted trees, watering them and proudly displaying adoption tags.
"The tree adoption activity is not only engaging, but also fosters a sense of stewardship, prompting us to appreciate the greenery in our midst," a local resident said.
