The Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in the Taizhou Medical High Tech Zone in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – organized a major development mobilization conference on Feb 20.
The event featured a keynote speech from Hang Huidong, deputy director of the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone Management Committee.
Hang outlined five pivotal issues within the current development landscape.
First, he stressed the necessity of boosting the quantity, scale and efficiency of project construction.
Second, he highlighted challenges such as low overall output, a lack of big resident companies and the urgent need for industrial transformation.
Third, Hang emphasized the critical importance of swift inspections and maintenance of infrastructure, including rain and sewage networks, as well as the need to make substantial progress in sewage treatment plants.
Fourth, he pointed out shortcomings in safety supervision and debt management. Last but not least, Hang drew attention to inefficiencies resulting from a lack of clarity in the division of responsibilities between the zone and sub-districts.

To address these issues, Hang proposed a raft of solutions.
First, he called on targeted support to be provided to key enterprises to nurture high-quality businesses. Second, he advocated strengthening the advancement of key projects while intensifying efforts to attract investment. Third, Hang said there should be a general enhancement of the level of technological innovation and a fostering of deep collaboration between research institutions and enterprises.
What's more, there needed to be improved risk management capabilities, promoting in-depth investigations into various risks and dangers.
