The Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, also known as the Gaogang district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently recognized as a national pilot area for environmental health management.
Environmental health is the study of how environmental factors can impact and harm human health and how we can identify and control such effects.
This specialized area takes the continuous improvement of the quality of the ecosystem and environment and the protection of public health as the starting point – and integrates environmental health risk prevention and control as the core endeavor.
The national pilot project is in response to the roll-out of the Healthy China initiative and the Beautiful China initiative.
It aims to strengthen environmental health management from various fields and throughout the entire process of precision ecological environment protection.
The Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone has established an environmental health monitoring, investigation and risk assessment system. It's also implemented a multi-layered control of environmental health risks and boosted the development of the environmental health related industries.
