Taixing Fengqi town – located in the Taixing High-tech Zone, in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – recently made it into the first batch of characteristic towns officially recognized in the province.
The Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission released a list of those recognized and a total of 20 towns achieved the honor.
Taixing Fengqi Town is a special "town in a zone" built by the Taixing High-tech Zone, with the theme of energy saving and environmental protection.
It has a planned area of 3.8 square kilometers and its core area covers 1.36 square kilometers.
The town is designed for the integrated development of production, residential living and the ecosystem - with a general development pattern of "one core, two belts and three zones".
One core refers to its comprehensive and functional core constituted by the Talent Technology Plaza and Fengqi River in the zone - covering integrated functions like science and technology R&D, conferences, exhibitions, trade and tourism.
Two belts include an industrial development belt and the ecological belt of the Guangou River.
Three zones refer to one area for small-scale product experiments before mass production, one service zone and one industrial zone.
In 2018, Fengqi was picked to be on the list for the creation of characteristic towns in the province and was awarded an excellent grade in the annual assessments for three consecutive years.
