Three Taixing EDZ firms receive Jiangsu Science and Technology Awards

The list of winners for the 2024 Jiangsu Science and Technology Awards has been released, with three technological innovation achievements from the Taixing Economic Development Zone, Taixing, Jiangsu province, included.

The first success story is the development, preparation technology package, and industrialization project for new and environmentally friendly film-forming additives for water-based coatings, which was led and completed by Runtai Chemical (Taixing).

Addressing the issues of toxic hazards and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) — forms of environmental pollution in the use of traditional film-forming aids — the project team innovated from the source of molecular structure design.

As a result, they, successfully developed a new molecular structure of environmentally friendly film-forming aid RTC-295, and established a continuous production line with a capacity of 40,000 metric tons per year.

The second winner on the list covers the key technologies and complete equipment for the intelligent operation and maintenance of an environmental control system in a hundred-megawatt-level offshore converter station, which was led and completed by Jiangsu Josun Air Conditioner.

The project tackled major industry challenges in environmental control systems for offshore wind power, including monitoring accuracy, response speed, fault prediction, and energy consumption, achieving autonomy in core algorithms, key components, and the entire system.

The third to make the list is a key technology and industrialization project for the full-component resource utilization of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) residue, which was led and completed by Taixing Fuchang Solid Waste Treatment.

In the face of high energy consumption, severe secondary pollution, and low product added-value in the existing PTA residue treatment process — all of which hinder sustainable industrial development — the project developed key process technologies for the better use of residue organic acids, cobalt and manganese metals, as well as bromine-containing waste salts.
