A delegation from Nanjing Tech University, based in Nanjing city, paid a visit on July 17 to the Taixing Economic Development Zone in Taixing city – both located in East China's Jiangsu province – to explore future cooperation.
The delegation was led by Zhang Jian, director of the university's organization department of the Party committee.
The aim was to investigate and conduct research into the planned construction of Taixing Industrial College of Nanjing Tech University, to be co-developed by the two parties.
In April, Nanjing Tech University and the government of Taixing signed a series of agreements about the co-construction of the new college.
Through the college, the university aims to leverage its technological innovation and talent advantages in green chemistry, new materials, medical health, intelligent manufacturing and in other fields, to foster the transformation and development of the EDZ and provide intellectual and talent support for Taixing as a whole, Zhang said.
The delegation also visited representative companies in the EDZ such as GEM (Jiangsu) Cobalt Industry and SP Chemicals (Taixing), to check out the fascinating field of green chemistry and to learn about how the circular economy works in the zone.
In terms of advancing the interests and ambitions of its students, delegation members found that there was the strong prospect of lots of things happening between the university and the EDZ.
Wang Jinghong, vice president of the university's College of Safety Science and Engineering, said that it and the EDZ could engage in in-depth cooperation on safety and environmental protection.
