Dedicated efforts have been made by the Taixing Economic Development Zone – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – to prevent major floods and disasters during the flood season.
Before the season, all flood prevention equipment and devices that have been stored for years were regularly maintained and serviced.
The zone has also recently bought four sets of 12-inch submersible axial flow pumps, 600 meters of cable and 500 m of water hoses, among other things, to its update materials.
For flood prevention, the zone's emergency command center has arranged six supervisory personnel to be on duty 24 hours a day.
They conduct full coverage inspections of business enterprises involved in hazardous water-based chemicals and those enterprises which occupy low terrain in the factory area, to grasp their entire production status.
The command center also conducts online video inspections using 11 AR eagle-eye panoramic cameras, 22 high-altitude monitoring cameras and public road monitoring.
What's more, resident companies conduct simulated training around multiple emergency responses for such things as flood prevention preparations, emergency responses and personnel rescues – further enhancing their ability to deal with any type of flood situation.
