Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province is lobbying international corporations for investments and projects.
In line with that initiative, the Multinational Corporations & Taizhou Industry Matchmaking Meeting took place in Taizhou on June 13, with the participation of senior executives from 15 multinationals.
In recent years, Taizhou has increased its efforts in opening-up its economy. There are currently over 1,000 foreign-invested business enterprises, including 31 established by Fortune 500 enterprises.
The city is now home to over 2,400 foreign trading business enterprises, including 39 with an annual import and export volumes topping $100 million.
From January to April, the city's total amount of contracted foreign investment and foreign trade was $300 million and $8.09 billion respectively, up 21.6 percent and 32.4 percent year-on-year.
"Taizhou is a distinctive industrial new city that has anchored the development of high-end, intelligent and green industries in recent years," said Yu Guangsheng, deputy director of the Investment Promotion Agency at the Ministry of Commerce.
He added that the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone and the Taixing Economic Development Zone, both administered by Taizhou, have become professional carriers.
He said they serve the high-quality development of the life and health, as well as the green chemicals industries, both boasting unique advantages in policy pilots, coordinated development of industry supply chains and industrial support facilities.
