The Taixing Economic Development Zone – located in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province – is undertaking a major leap forwards in boosting water conservation, a process it began in recent years.
In pursuit of this objective, Jiangsu OCI Chemical Co Ltd has implemented a series of water-saving technology transformation projects while enhancing its water-saving management, achieving zero discharge of production wastewater.
In 2023, the total water intake of the company decreased by 75.1 percent year-on-year, with the main product potassium hydroxide consuming 2.16 cubic meters of water per metric ton.
This has enabled the company to achieve the highest level of water efficiency in Jiangsu province.
The Taixing EDZ, meanwhile, has introduced a so-called "negative list" management system and it has resolutely rejected projects that fail to meet the water efficiency admission threshold.
In addition, taking the comprehensive evaluation of industrial enterprise performance as the starting point, the zone is driving its resources towards enterprises with low water resource consumption and high output benefits.
