Taixing city – administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – is acting to improve the efficiency of its sewage collection and treatment to substantially improve its urban water environment, a process it's begun in recent years.
In the Taixing Economic Development Zone, an industrial wastewater treatment plant costing 650 million yuan ($89.92 million) is responsible for the sewage treatment of resident enterprises there.
Since it started operating in September 2022, it has treated over 6 million metric tons of sewage in total, benefiting over 100 enterprises.
Taixing has also included sewage collection and treatment as a key project for its ecological civilization construction program. Urban sewage pump station No.2, for example, is a sewage delivery artery connecting the main urban area and the Binjiang sewage treatment plant.
Since its completion, the daily sewage shipment capacity has reached 165,000 tons, achieving full transportation of the waste material with no overflows of sewage recorded.
Last year, 14 roads were renovated in the city – including Gulou Road and Guoqing Road – involving a rainwater and sewage pipeline network stretching 17 kilometers. In all, some 15 sewage treatment improvement and efficiency projects were completed, with three sewage treatment improvement and efficiency standard areas built.
