Focusing on energy conservation and carbon emission reduction, the Taixing Economic Development Zone in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province, actively implemented and promoted its photovoltaic power generation projects last year, achieving an accumulative photovoltaic power generation of 31.2 million kilowatt-hours, up 143 percent year-on-year.
Compared to traditional thermal power generation, this saved 3,800 metric tons of standard coal and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 21,000 tons.
Moreover, the zone also urged its resident enterprises to adopt the use of green electricity, which refers to electricity that was produced with zero or near-zero carbon dioxide emissions.
Green electricity is important for the company if it wants to achieve carbon neutrality. It also contributes to the transformation and upgrading of an entire industry.
The green electricity that the zone purchased in 2023 exceeded 240 million kWh, a year-on-year increase of 38.1 percent.
Looking ahead, the park will strive to build a zero-carbon energy supply system, promote the large-scale development of renewable energy, and build a national green and low-carbon demonstration park.
