Jiangsu Yanchang Zhongran Chemical Co Ltd in Taixing, a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, recently passed a test for the production of high-quality propene products.
Propene is one of the basic raw materials for three major synthetic materials: plastics, synthetic rubber and synthetic fibers.
On May 15, the company's PDH devices, which are used to dehydrogenate propane to propene, ran smoothly for 48 hours during test. The concentration of propene produced from those devices was above 99.9 percent.

The company is expected to process 360,000 metric tons of propane this year, and some 600,000 tons of propene annually when it reaches full capacity.
This 3.6-billion-yuan project is a joint venture involving Jiangsu and Shaanxi provinces and regarded as a key project in Taizhou.
