Taizhou city – located in Jiangsu province – held a recruitment drive on March 8 in Soochow University, in Suzhou city, in the province in East China.
Focusing on fine chemicals, new materials, medical, medical equipment, equipment manufacturing and other fields, the event aimed to promote ties between Suzhou's universities and Taizhou – and to achieve talent-industry employment matches.
A recruitment fair also kicked off at the scene. A total of 313 students delivered their resumes and 116 students signed preliminary employment agreements.
In addition, an innovative cooperation plan called "1+X", developed by Soochow University and Taizhou, was launched. It's a bid to make breakthroughs in science and technology, boost the commercialization of findings and discoveries and to bolster training.

Wang Lupei, the deputy secretary of Soochow University Party committee, called for more university-city cooperation in innovation, which could be expanded for mutual benefit.
In the run-up to the event, Taizhou established a platform called "Taizhouri activities". Its goal is to stage recruitment drives, with functions for promoting policies, talent matching and sci-tech cooperation, among other things.
