Jingjiang – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has introduced a heartwarming initiative to enhance the well-being of its senior citizens.

By providing warm and great meal packages, the city aims to ensure the food security of seniors. With 117 elderly meal assistance points established, over 2,000 folks have already benefited from more than 50,000 meals.

The city has introduced an inclusive meal assistance model where individuals, businesses, the local government, collectives and the community all contribute to ensure sustainability. This includes one-time establishment and operational subsidies.

Tailoring support to each elderly person's needs, the city implements varied subsidy policies, especially for those facing challenges.

It's set up meal delivery teams comprising elderly helpers, grid workers and volunteers. They provide door-to-door meal deliveries, ensuring that every senior receives their meals promptly and conveniently.

Stringent supervision and inspection measures have been put in place to guarantee food safety and hygiene standards, providing seniors with peace of mind as they enjoy their meals.

Looking ahead, plans are for Jingjiang to expand its coverage of elderly meal services – fostering a system that is convenient and affordable and that, above all, ensures the well-being of the elderly population.
